How to Install Netflix on TV
Netflix is available as a built-in or downloadable app on nearly all modern smart TVs, streaming devices, and gaming consoles.
Step 1: Confirm Your TV Supports Netflix
Most smart TVs released in the last several years include Netflix compatibility, either pre-installed or available in the app store. If you have an older TV without smart features, you can still access Netflix using an external streaming device such as a media stick or a gaming console connected via HDMI.
Step 2: Connect to Wi-Fi
Before installing any app, make sure your TV is connected to the internet. Navigate to Settings, then Network, and select your home Wi-Fi network, entering the password if required.
Step 3: Locate or Download the App
On many TVs, Netflix is pre-installed and appears on the home screen. If it isn't there, open your TV's app store, search for "Netflix," and select Install. The download typically takes a minute or two.
Step 4: Open Netflix and Sign In
Launch the app from your home screen. You'll be prompted to sign in with your Netflix account email and password using the on-screen keyboard and your remote. Alternatively, many TVs offer a quicker sign-in method where you visit netflix.com/tv on a separate device and enter the activation code shown on your television.
Step 5: Select a Profile
Once signed in, choose your profile from the list, or create a new one if you're setting up Netflix for the first time. Each profile keeps track of separate viewing history and recommendations.
Step 6: Start Streaming
Browse the Netflix home screen using your remote to find movies and shows. Select a title and press play to begin streaming.
Troubleshooting Tips
If Netflix won't load, check your internet connection speed, as streaming requires a stable connection for smooth playback. Signing out and back in can resolve login issues. If the app crashes frequently, try uninstalling and reinstalling it, or check for a pending software update on your TV.
